A followup to Mickeys Adventures in Numberland, Mickeys Safari in Letterland attempts to teach children how to spell while still allowing them to have fun. Give me a break... This game, like it's predecessor, was produced by Hi-Tech Expressions. It seems like this game probably succeeded more in the teaching department than Numberland did, but that doesn't make it any funner. In fact, if you're playing for sheer entertainment value (which nobody does), you'll be upset to know that Letterland is actually less fun than Numberland - and Numberland wasn't that fun to begin with.

Mickeys Safari in Letterland doesn't have a story at all - the closest thing to a plot you see is Goofy picking Mickey up in front of some random museum, and Mickey going on a safari - a safari of LEARNING! You must find letters and blocks of stone (don't ask) in locations like a pyramid, a swamp, and the jungle. Along the way you fight fun and exciting enemies, like cute little sea lions, or this mushroom thing that sorta looks like a phallus. None of these enemies can cause you any damage, of course, and are there to give the appearance that this isn't a ploy to trick dumb kids into learning.

This game features the same three difficulty settings as Mickeys Adventures in Numberland: Normal, Advanced, and Super Advanced. The difference between the two games is that Safari in Letterland's Super Advanced mode doesn't give Mickey the ability to die (nor the player the right to kill Mickey). All it does is change the levels and make dumb, unnecessary stuff happen to the player (for instance, when playing Super Advanced mode, if Mickey jumps from a high platform, he'll be dazed when he hits the ground, but not at all harmed. This doesn't happen in Normal mode, and all it serves to do is slow you down and annoy me.) If you didn't like Mickeys Adventures in Numberland (and let's be honest, you shouldn't have), you certainly won't like this game. Plus it has Mickey Mouse in it, and I'm not about to support Disney's Army of Evil Nazi Mice. The Nazi Mice are coming... The Nazi Mice are coming...
